What People Are Really Craving

I brought together 16 coaches and entrepreneurs for a day of learning and connection last Saturday.
People had a blast.
Here's my three biggest takeaways....
Give People a Reason to Show Up on TimeWhen people are paying to attend, getting them to show up on time isn't hard. Those who invest are invested. But this was a free experience with a 9:30am start on a Saturday.
That's early.
Solution? We hired a photographer and anyone who showed up on time got free professional headshots. Only one person was late.
Connection Activities Don't Need to be CheesyIt's tough.
Many of us have endured awkward ice breakers that felt forced. Yuck. But if you have nothing that breaks the ice, people stay stuck in surface-level small talk.
So what do you do?
You design an activity that combines curiosity and gamification with personalized conversation starters. I created a custom bingo style game where each box contained a unique fact about someone in attendance. Within minutes, everyone went from polite chit chat to engaging in-depth conversations.

People are Craving in-Person ContactThe awesome thing about growing a business today is that people are now used to doing things online. Having international clients who pay thousands of dollars for coaching + mentorship that is delivered via Zoom has been normalized. And I'm grateful for it.
It's allowed me to help people in 13 different countries since 2019.
The downside is that it's easy to go several days in a row without leaving your house. It's easy to feel isolated. After the event, I got a message from someone saying "It was medicine for my soul and it pulled me out of a depression".
In a world where remote teams, self-checkouts, and video calls are becoming the default, people are craving in-person contact.
